Outlander: Blood of My Blood has brought back two beloved characters, and this has made me hope that we might see them in Outlander season 8. The prequel series has introduced the younger versions of several fan-favorite Outlander characters, especially those whom Claire first met at Castle Leoch in season 1. In the case of two of these, it has been a heartwarming reunion of unlikely lovers.
I’m talking, of course, about Murtagh Fitzgibbons and Jocasta MacKenzie. This couple was brought together for the Outlander TV show, despite the fact that they never had a romance in the books. Now they have reappeared in Outlander: Blood of My Blood. They have not yet begun their romance in the spinoff, but it’s evident that they always had a bit of chemistry, even in their younger years.
As lovely as it is to see Murtagh and Jocasta together again on screen, these naturally aren’t the same actors we initially fell in love with. These characters are now played by Rory Alexander and Sadhbh Malin, both of whom have done spectacularly in taking up the mantle of their predecessors. Still, I’m holding hope that Outlander season 8 will bring back the originals.
There’s Still Hope We Could See Murtagh & Jocasta In Outlander Season 8

Murtagh Fitzgibbons died back in Outlander season 5, and though Jocasta could still be kicking, she hasn’t been seen on screen in quite some time. This should eliminate these characters from appearing in Outlander season 8, but there’s still hope. After all, this is a time-travel fantasy series—just about anything is possible.
Outlander season 8 is guaranteed to bring a climactic resolution to Claire’s story, and this is sure to mean a variety of full-circle moments. Claire or another time traveler could make another jump through the stones, perhaps to be reunited with characters who died long ago in the series. This would be especially impactful for Blood of My Blood characters like Dougal, Colum, and, yes, Murtagh and Jocasta.
This Unlikely Outlander Couple Has Already Done The Impossible

Though Murtagh’s death makes a reunion in Outlander season 8 more complicated, this character has already gone beyond what was seemingly possible. After all, Murtagh was killed off far earlier on in the Outlander books, where he died during the Battle of Culloden. However, Duncan Lacroix’s character was such a fan favorite that the writers couldn’t resist keeping him around longer.
It was only because of Murtagh’s changed story that the romance with Jocasta ever happened. Therefore, it’s only because of this that these two characters have this chemistry in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Therefore, it’s only because of this that these two characters have this chemistry in Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Surely, if such changes were so successful earlier in the series, an additional one that would bring Murtagh and Jocasta together one last time in Outlander season 8 isn’t too much of a stretch.
