The creators of Outlander have given fans a sneak peek into season eight, hinting at the final journey of the popular Starz series, reports the Scottish Daily Express.
In a recent interview, Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner of Outlander, and executive producer Maril Davis, revealed some details about the shocking twist in season seven involving Faith Fraser, which will continue into the final season.
Roberts hinted that there’s more to Claire Fraser’s (portrayed by Caitríona Balfe) loss of her baby and subsequent healing by Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) than what meets the eye.
He described the moment as “something mysteriously magical and mystical about that moment that you don’t understand” suggesting that viewers would learn more about what truly happened with Faith in season eight.
Roberts further teased TV Insider by saying, “I think a lot of these things that happen in Outlander are constructed by destiny…”

“So if there’s magic in Faith and there’s magic in that story, then we’ll see what happens.”
His comments imply that the final season could feature more elements of magic and mysticism.
Davis, on the other hand, mentioned that the color blue symbolizes healing and suggested that re-watching the series might reveal “things we’ve dropped in here or there” indicating that the season two episode titled Faith could provide hints about the upcoming eighth season.
Even in season seven, the color blue was prominent, with Claire wearing a shawl as she got up from bed and opened a window, mirroring the flight of a blue heron in the second season’s episode, Faith.

The creators have previously indicated a shift in the show’s direction, deviating from the original source material.
Diana Gabaldon also hinted at a potential alternate timeline where Master Raymond transports a deceased Faith to another era, reviving her, but leaving her without her parents.
This year marks the ninth anniversary of Outlander’s heart-wrenching baby loss storyline from season two.
The plot, lifted directly from Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber, depicted Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire being profoundly affected by the death of their first child, Faith.

Fans are already buzzing with theories about the plot, speculating whether Fanny Pocock’s (Florrie May Wilkinson) mother Faith could be Jamie and Claire’s daughter.
Furthermore, some fans suggest that the upcoming Outlander: Blood of My Blood prequel series might tie into the Faith storyline, with speculation that Claire’s mother Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) could be involved somehow.
Starz has not yet announced the premiere date for Outlander season eight, but with production wrapped up, it seems the main filming is complete and it may now just be a matter of editing.
Season seven, part two aired earlier this year, and Blood of My Blood is set to release in August, so it’s likely the final season will hit screens either at the end of 2025 or in 2026.
