As the Weight of Tristan Rogers’ Passing Lands On Us All, General Hospital Legend Kimberly McCullough Shares an Anecdote That Will Only Make You Love Him More

All of us who remember the heyday of General Hospital and the Love In the Afternoon era on ABC Daytime were hard hit by the news that Tristan Rogers had passed away on August 15 at age 79 after battling lung cancer. Certainly, Kimberly McCullough felt the impact of his loss; she’d played his Robert Scorpio’s daughter Robin since 1985. But in addition to a hole in her heart, she was left with sweet recollections in her head.

“So many Robert and Robin moments to remember… ” the Emmy winner Instagrammed, sharing a photo from bygone days. “Grant Putnam had kidnapped Anna in front of Robin, and that traumatic event caused Robin to become catatonic and silent. Robert had come to Robin’s bedside to comfort her but also to find out what she had seen so he could rescue Anna.

“Even during these very heavy scripted moments,” McCullough continued, “Tristan always made sure to keep it light — it was part of how he protected me.”

What, exactly, did Rogers do? Aw, jeez, this is too precious. “In rehearsals, Tristan would say, ‘What’s my line, kid? Don’t need the prompter when you have Kimberly,’” McCullough shared. “And I would feed him the line and go back to being catatonic.
