Several new characters have been introduced in the latest season of the hit historical drama Outlander.

Izzy Meikle-Small, who plays Quaker Rachel Hunter, has detailed one particularly embarrassing moment that occurred when she filmed the latest batch of episodes.

Speaking to Town & Country, Izzy reminisced about a particularly memorable day on set as she outlined: “It was such a funny day.

“We all really had the giggles because we were doing this scene where we were in this loch and me, Sam (Heughan), and Cat (Caitriona Balfe) were in a boat that was pushing off because we were escaping. It was really high stakes.”

Viewers may remember this scene in the episode titled Singapore, which saw the British soldiers commence their attack on Fort Ticonderoga, forcing the Continental Army to flee.

Well, behind-the-scenes the actors had to contend with a boat that did not want to comply that day as they attempted to film the scene.

Izzy continued: “They put us in the shallowest part of the loch, but the boat was too heavy and Sam couldn’t push the boat away.”

Each time that they attempted the take, Sam would jump in to “heroically try and push us off,” Izzy revealed.

But each time they would still end up grounded in the boat.

After several failed attempts, Izzy realised that Diana Gabaldon, whose books the show is based off of, had been watching them the entire time.

The actress “didn’t know she was going to be there” and had only met Diana on her third or fourth week of filming.

“I realised that Diana had been watching this whole time and we were so embarrassed ’cause I felt like I just spent the whole day laughing.

“But she was very sweet and said that I was what she imagined for Rachel, which is obviously the nicest thing to hear,” Rachel concluded.

While the season seven finale left fans eager to see what could happen next, it may be some time until the conclusion of the penultimate season appears on screens.

Outlander season seven airs on Starz in the USA and on Lionsgate+ in the UK.
