Outlander fans are losing their mind as they ask for ‘help’ when coming to terms with one thing about Jamie Fraser.
The fictional Scots character of Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, has stolen the hearts of many fans thanks to his charming nature in the show, which is an adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling series of eight books.
One particular thing that Jamie’s fan club love the most about the highlander is his warm hearted personality and the unmatched devotion he shows to his wife Claire Fraser in the show.
However, the Outlander fandom have been left in ‘physical pain’ when it comes to accepting one hard truth about Jamie – he’s fictional.

Fans are obsessed with Jamie’s devotion to his wife Claire Fraser
Taking to Reddit, one fan started a thread titled ‘James Alexander Malolm MacKenzie Fraser’ as they expressed their frustration over Jamie not being real, complaining that no men in this modern day compare to the romantic Scots hero.
User @liveliar wrote: “First time watching through the show. I am seriously, seriously for real so down bad for this man right now it’s not even funny. Like… HELP. I can’t believe a guy from the 1700s is topping any man from the 2020s (fictional, I know).
“Not just as a romantic partner in the way he treats Claire with so much genuine love and respect and devotion, but even just as a human being he’s so warm-hearted despite all the horrible things he’s been through and I love him for it. The fact that this man is fictional physically hurts to think about.”
Other fans were quick to agree as many said they completely understood how the Redditor felt. One fan replied: “Welcome to the crazed Jamie club. We welcome new members with open arms because, gurl, we know. Oh, how much do we understand. I still wish I could sometimes erase my memory and start over again lol.”
Another humorously said: “I hold all men to the Jamie Standard now. Sufficed to say I don’t date men any more.”
While fans were also in agreement that Jamie is a hunk, many insisted that his ’emotional intelligence’ is what makes him so attractive.
One fan commented: “It’s not even his physique. It’s the emotional intelligence for me.” A second chimed in: This man is the greenest green flag that’s ever green-flagged. All through my first watch, was like what do you mean, he COMMUNICATES ?! APOLOGIZES ?!?

“He’s thoughtful, takes initiatives, isn’t afraid to cry, holds himself accountable AND learns from his mistakes ?!?! Being ‘so tall and handsome as hell’ is only a bonus feature at this point, I’m afraid. And the accent is just an exquisite cherry on top of that magnificent cake.
Someone else joked that men like Jamie do exist but are kept hidden away by their wives as they said: “They exist but their women keep it low key.”
A fourth commented: “Not only is he gorgeous but that’s what its like when a man is written by a woman. top tier.”
As it turns out, Scots born actor Sam Heughan, who portrays Jamie in the show, is also an absolute sweetheart as fans claimed that he is the closest thing they are going to get to his fictional character’s personality.
One reddit user shared a snap of her and Sam at one of his Sassenach Spirits events for a bottle signing of one of the actor’s premium blended Scotch whiskeys – named after the Gaelic term ‘Sassenach’ which Jamie affectionally calls his wife Claire in Outlander.
The fan wrote: “I met Sam Heughan in February at a bottle signing and he was the sweetest man ever.” Another agreed: “Sam isn’t Jamie but dang he’s close for a 21st century man.”
The eight and final season of Outlander is expected to premiere in early 2026 after filming wrapped in September last year.
