A new production update for Wednesday season 3 spells good news for fans of Netflix’s hit supernatural series.
After the Addams Family-inspired TV show debuted in 2022, fans had to wait almost three years for the sophomore season to be released. Ever since Wednesday season 2 dropped on Netflix in 2025, speculation grew about how long of a wait there would be until the third season. Netflix didn’t include the series in its recent 2026 preview, which likely means Wednesday will return in 2027.
According to What’s On Netflix, filming has reportedly gotten underway for Wednesday season 3, based on cryptic Instagram Stories from various crew members. This production schedule aligns with actor Hunter Doohan’s January announcement that filming would begin soon and last around seven to eight months; Doohan plays Tyler Galpin on the show.
As shared by fan account @wensadms on X, stunt performer Jenny Ayumi recently posted an Instagram Story featuring some prop feet, with the caption, “Our job is really weird, just find this stuff casually laying around.”

Makeup artist Nirvana Jalalvand then shared a photo from Ireland, possibly taken from the hair and makeup trailer, with @wensadms claiming that this was from the fourth day of filming. It had previously been confirmed that Wednesday season 3 would film in Dublin, Ireland.

The assumption is that these photos were taken on the set of Wednesday season 3, though nothing has been confirmed by Netflix yet.
Ahead of the reported start of filming, casting calls were sent out for actors to play high school-aged students and other characters for the new season.
Aside from Ortega and Doohan, Wednesday also stars Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Steve Buscemi, Isaac Ordonez, Owen Painter, Billie Piper, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Fred Armisen, Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Casino Royale actress Eva Green will join the returning cast members for Wednesday season 3 as Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister, who has psychic powers. The character made a mysterious cameo in the second-season finale via one of Wednesday’s visions after being given Ophelia’s journal. In the vision, Ophelia wrote, “Wednesday Must Die,” in blood while being held in a cell.
Wednesday season 2 was split into two parts, with the first four episodes being released in August 2025 and the final four episodes dropping a month later. This release schedule faced backlash from fans. It’s unknown at this time whether Netflix will follow a similar pattern in season 3 or if the public criticism will be taken into account.
Despite that backlash, the quality of the show didn’t suffer. In fact, Wednesday season 2 earned a higher Rotten Tomatoes score from critics (87%) compared to the first season (73%).
With filming for Wednesday season 3 now reportedly underway, it will likely be several more months until Netflix announces a premiere date, with 2027 seen as a likely release window.
