Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe share exciting Outlander update but fans divided over detail

The seventh season of Outlander may have wrapped up, but lead actors Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe have just dropped an exciting update about the show on their Instagram profiles, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

The duo were tagged in a post by The Outlander Collector account, which unveiled a montage from the seventh season. The caption read: “Dive deeper into the world of #Outlander with the Season 7 Collector’s Edition or Season 7 Blu-ray and DVD on May 27th!

“Loaded with exclusive bonus features, including four Untold Scenes and more. Pre-Order Now at the link in our bio.”

The video hinted at additional scenes and cut content from the gripping seventh season.

One scene showed Brianna MacKenzie (portrayed by Sophie Skelton) examining a book that contained a photograph of her adoptive father Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) on the inside cover.

Another featured Young Ian Murray (John Bell) seemingly praying to God to make him “worthy”, with Claire (Balfe) discovering him in the Fraser’s Ridge church.

A third captured a tender moment between Rachel Hunter (Izzy Meikle-Small) and William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart).

While many fans were thrilled about the opportunity to buy the DVD, some took to the comments section to share their observations.

One person quipped: “DVD? ? ? ? ? Is this 1990? ? ? ? ? [sic].”

Another fan jested: “hahahahaha we went back to the stones and traveled to the past [sic].”

One individual commented: “right? who has a DVD player anymore nowadays [sic]”, a sentiment echoed by another who added: “That’s it, I don’t even have DVDs anymore” accompanied by a crying with laughter emoji.

However, others defended the concept of physical media. One person retorted: “it costs $20 at most. Or don’t buy it. Must you complain about everything [sic].”

Another chimed in: “Lots of people like to own physical media. No need to worry about a subscription to a specific service to watch your favorite shows or movies.”

They also pointed out: “Not to mention platforms losing the rights to certain shows or deciding not to cycle shows in and out over time [sic].”

A different user noted: “people who want to watch again and again without worrying about whether they’ve paid for the right streaming platform [sic].”

Outlander can be accessed in a variety of ways, including through subscriptions to various streaming platforms, digital downloads, and DVDs for those who still appreciate tangible media.
