The written works of Diana Gabaldon in the novel series, Outlander, have long held their audience under a spell for well over a decade. While that journey is poised to end soon, with a final season of the hit series adaptation around the corner, the show’s legacy lives on with its prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which premiered earlier this year. Having introduced us to several familiar characters, albeit in younger versions, Blood of My Blood ended its first season after a ten-episode run. Season 2 of the fantasy prequel, was quickly greenlit by Starz and now fans of the Scottish Highlands can rejoice, for there is more to celebrate.
After months of work behind the scenes, Season 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has wrapped filming, according to a post shared by the show’s official Instagram page. “It’s official: filming on #BloodOfMyBlood Season 2 has wrapped and I simply could not have shared these photos faster,” read the caption that accompanied the carousel of images shared on social media. The images shared confirm the return of several characters, including the show’s main characters, some of whom are members of the Clans Fraser and MacKenzie. Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield), Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), will return in their lead roles. Jocasta Cameron (Maria Doyle Kennedy), Ned Gowan (Conor MacNeill), and Malcom (Jhon Lumsden) are also featured in the set photos shared. Recently wedded Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) and Maura Grant (Bobby Rainsbury), will also reprise their roles.

‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ Is Telling Its Own Unique Story
Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel to the long-running romance drama, Outlander, which stars Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan in the lead roles of Claire and Jamie respectively, takes us a similar, yet different fantasy adventure. The series chronicles events that happened in the lives of Ellen MacKenzie (Slater) and Brian Fraser (Roy), parents of Heughan’s Jamie Fraser and Corfield’s Julia Moriston and Irvine’s Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s parents. Some characters from the original series are poised to be part of the new series’ story, with conversations surrounding Claire making an appearance as well also coming up.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood has Matthew B. Roberts serving as showrunner, and with filming on Season 2 wrapped, the minds of fans will most certainly turn to what the story brings going forward. Speaking exclusively to Collider a couple of months ago, series star Jamie Roy offered some pointers regarding his character in Season 2. While remarking on the support he has gotten from Heughan for his role, Roy remarked that Brian has “gone from a boy to a man” in Season 2.
“Since we’re in Season 2 and we know where it goes, when we were at the premiere, I was like, “This is guy is so different from what I know in my heart to be Brian” because he’s gone through so much. Even in Season 1, there’s a huge change. But then, when we get to Season 2, it changes again. He does a lot of growing up. A lot happens in that time, and he changes very, very significantly. I like to think he’s gone from a boy to a man in Season 1.“
Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 can be streamed entirely on STARZ. There is no release date for Season 2 yet.
