The fate of Henry in Outlander: Blood of My Blood rests in the hands of just one person

When Henry faces a break from reality in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, there’s only one person who might be able to help—and the series has cleverly set the stage for it.

Henry Beauchamp is struggling under the grief of believing that Julia and their unborn child are dead. Of course, we know this isn’t true. While it would help if Julia could find him, that’s not currently possible. For one, she doesn’t even know that Henry is living in the past with her. On top of that, Simon Fraser still keeps her confined at Castle Leathers.

That leaves one person who could step in: Ned Gowan.

Ned Gowan may learn the truth about Henry

Henry first heads to the brothel where he and Ned have previously met. This is also where Ned introduced Una to Henry, assisting in his search for Julia. Though the visit didn’t yield immediate results, Henry never blamed Ned for it.

If anyone is going to get word about Henry’s current situation, it would be Ned. Una would want to keep her business running smoothly and ensure she’s paid for Henry’s presence, making it likely she would send a message to Ned. Through this, Ned could learn about the false news Henry has been told. At first, he might believe it—but events are about to unfold differently.

Ned will hear about Simon and Julia’s “marriage”

In episode 6 of season 1, Simon revealed that he and Julia would be married, even using her full name, Julia Beauchamp. While the marriage hasn’t officially happened yet, Simon intends for it to, which would legitimize the child in his eyes.

Word of this will surely reach Clan MacKenzie—and through them, Ned. He’ll also hear about the birth of the baby, as Simon is eager to broadcast it, believing he has secured the future King of Scotland.

This is the news Henry desperately needs: confirmation that he was lied to about Julia and the baby’s fate. While it doesn’t immediately resolve everything—Julia still needs to be freed from Castle Leathers—Ned is in a position to bring Henry back from despair and help him refocus on finding Julia.
