Outlander’s eighth and final season is just around the corner but it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the cast when the cameras aren’t rolling.
Outlander season eight has nearly arrived with just a couple of months left before the last leg of the iconic Scottish romantic drama begins with the Fraser family at its heart.
Two stars who will be returning for the final episodes are Lauren Lyle and Cesar Domboy as Marsali and Fergus respectively, after they were last seen at the end of series six.
Ahead of season eight’s grand debut, actress Lyle returned this week with her hit podcast She’s A Rec where she welcomed Outlander legend Caitriona Balfe.
Having played Claire Fraser for a staggering 12 years, Lyle wanted to point out Balfe’s kindness behind the scenes before remembering one less peaceful incident.

Lyle began: “I always found you very commanding on set, in a very respectful way.
“Everyday you would always thank everyone for being there and say goodbye and good night to everyone, every time without fail.
“And you’d only flip out on something that meant something, never flip out over dumb s***.
“It would always be in support of someone, I remember you flipping out over something for me and Cesar [Domboy].
“We weren’t allowed to kiss and Caitriona [Balfe] and Sam [Heughan] do a lot of kissing on the show and me and Cesar, who plays Fergus, were told we weren’t allowed to kiss.”

Balfe further elaborated: “What I think what you was told, people didn’t do that in that time in public and we were like ‘pretty sure we’ve done that and more.’”
Lyle then replied: “Cesar definitely kicked off as well and then eventually I think it was like ‘Fair enough. On you go.’”
Marsali and Fergus had left Fraser’s Ridge in season six to start a new life in another town where he would take over a print shop.
In Diana Gabaldon’s book series, the pair don’t return so the TV drama is now deviating from the original work.
But what could be the reason for Marsali and Fergus’ unexpected return and what impact will their presence have on the remaining episodes?
