Outlander fans just have a few more weeks to wait before the emotional final episodes bring an end to the gripping romantic saga of Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
Ahead of the highly anticipated season eight premiere next March, the hit Starz drama’s official Instagram page has treated followers to a brand new look at the actors on set.
Along with lead stars Balfe and Heughan, the images also feature main cast members Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell and several others in costume.
The sneak peek may be keeping plot details under wraps, but the new photos pull back the curtain to reveal how some important upcoming scenes were filmed.
A caption on the Instagram post reads: “These #Outlander Season 8 BTS photos couldn’t fit in your stocking, so I’ll just leave them here.”

Fans were thrilled to receive an early, Outlander-themed Christmas present as there’s still a three-month wait before Claire and Jamie return to screens one last time.
Many of them took to the comments to share their excitement, with a few passionate followers feeling quite emotional as the story comes to an end.
One Instagram user replied: “Thank you so much for these beautiful photos of BTS during filming! I love them! They’ll help me pass the time while waiting for season 8! Happy holidays!”
Someone else admitted: “I have mixed emotions. I am happy we are going to watch Season 8 but extremally upset, the end of my Outlander love affair. Oh, I forget, I will have reruns to watch.”
Another fan gushed: “There is something unbearably emotional about seeing the world of Outlander from the inside one last time. These images carry years of devotion and storytelling and they feel like both a gift and a farewell.
“My heart is not ready but I am grateful beyond words. Season 8 is already breaking my heart in the most beautiful way.
“If this is what waits behind the scenes I can only imagine the emotion waiting on screen.”

An official synopsis for Outlander’s final instalment reads: “As Season 8 begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence.
“With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together.
