Outlander fans in hot debate over ‘mystery’ doll as some say it’s ‘ridiculous’

Outlander fans have been left puzzled, and some frustrated, after Bree’s on-screen daughter appeared to have her toy doll thrown on the ground before travelling through the stones.

“Bree took the doll from her daughter and threw it on the ground before they went into the stones. So how did the doll end up in 1739 when the doll was left in 1980?,” said one fan after re-watching the episode.

The post, which racked up over 1,200 likes on a fan Facebook page, soon ended up in the comments section to weigh in with their thoughts. “Does it matter? It’s a show people let’s not be ridiculous… lol,” one person wrote, which gained over 100 likes.

Finally settling the topic, a few people clarified. One person said “she picked it up before they went through,” and another echoed, “Watch closer as she had it!”

Someone else said, “It is possible that the show made a mistake in filming if Bree didn’t grab the doll before going through…” Another fan found the moment distressing, noting: “It really upset me the doll was thrown to the ground. How traumatising for her. I’m glad it made it through the stones.”

Someone else quipped, “They show Bri running with the doll after Mandy as she was going towards the stone.” However one fan disagreed, “The doll and the bag are definitely on the ground when Bree turns to go after Mandy.”

“In the book the doll went with them but in the series I would say it was a mistake in filming!,” noted someone else.

Someone also offered a solution (spoiler alert!) from the books, as they said: “In the books the doll does go with them. When Mandy first runs through the stones, Jeremiah runs after her. They pop back out a few minutes later, in 1980 with Bree( I figured it was because they were children and the stones are not gonna let them pass without their mom- Because Mandy was certainly thinking about her dad. They could have gone to the 1730s), but their gems have burned up.

“There is a man there that had been trying to catch up with them. A good guy. He gives them more gemstones. His wedding ring or something. I can’t remember right off the top of my head. They thank him and run back through the stones just in time to get away from Cameron and his henchman. WITH Esmerelda. Then they find Roger and begin their long and arduous journey.”

However, more people were bothered about how wound up fans were getting on the post, arguing over where and how the doll got to its destination.

Someone said, “come on. The story is about people traveling through time and you have a problem with a doll?,” as another fan wrote, “It’s called no one catches it while filming. This isn’t reality tv it’s a fantasy show.”
