A world-famous Outlander actor delighted Edinburgh residents when he visited a local shop.

Sam Heughan, renowned for his portrayal of Jamie Fraser in the hit Starz series, made an appearance in the capital on Tuesday, December 9.

The star greeted fans in Toppings Edinburgh on Blenheim Place while celebrating his new book, The Cocktail Diaries.

Described by Waterstones as a “love letter to mixed drinks,” Sam explored cocktails and the stories behind them

The star shot to fame in the drama series set in Scotland which tells the story of a nurse – played by Caitriona Balfe – who is carried back in time to the late 1700s and finds herself in with a fictional clan of Highlanders, which includes Sam’s character Jamie.

Sam has also appeared in the Starz series The Couple Next Door and romcom Love Again, starring Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, and Celine Dion.

Toppings staff posted on social media thanking the actor for his appearance, saying: “Yesterday we were joined by the one and only Sam Heughan to celebrate his new book, The Cocktail Diaries!

“We have signed copies left in the bookshop, so do pop by to have a look. With an array of cocktails, it’s a great addition for the Christmas holidays as a gift or for yourself.”

Photos show the star attracted a packed house for the book signing, with fans clamouring for their moment to meet the Outlander celebrity.
