Horrifying moment as two French air force jets collide in mid-air, forcing pilots to eject

Two French air force jets have been captured colliding mid-air while rehearsing a stunt.

The crash occurred in Saint-Dizier, eastern France, yesterday afternoon during a drill involving six Alpha Jets.

Terrifying footage shows a group of jets flying in an organized line and firing colored smoke flares when two planes suddenly collide mid-air.

They quickly begin to plummet and disintegrate on impact as debris falls from the sky.

The incident reportedly took place during a formation flight, with the aerobatic team preparing for an upcoming public demonstration.

“An accident involving two Alpha Jets of the Patrouille de France during rehearsals has just occurred. Emergency services are being mobilized”, Lecornu said.

One of the fallen jets crashed into a silo, sparking an explosion. The other plane is believed to have landed in a canal.

French media Puissance Television reported that Saint-Dizier’s mayor, Quentin Brière, visited the site and has urged residents “not to panic”.

Brière went on to praise the “professionalism” of the pilots in their ability to keep the wider population safe.
