Jesse Williams, best known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, has seen his latest venture cancelled by Prime Video after just one series, following his departure from the popular medical drama.
The actor starred in the murder mystery thriller Hotel Costiera as ex-Marine Daniel De Luca, who works as a fixer for a high-end hotel on the Italian Riviera.
In the inaugural series, De Luca is tasked with investigating the disappearance of the hotel owner’s daughter, Alice (played by Amanda Campana).
The show’s synopsis reads: “Daniel must do everything he can to bring her home, but facing those who kidnapped the girl will be more challenging than any problem Daniel has ever faced.”
Fremantle, the co-producers of the programme, are said to be pitching Hotel Costiera to other potential partners to secure funding for a second series, reports the Express.

The first series, consisting of six episodes, was released in full on 24th September.
Neither Prime Video nor Williams have commented on the cancellation at the time of writing.
Fans will no doubt be devastated by this news, especially considering the debut series received glowing reviews from both viewers and critics. It currently boasts a 90 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

One passionate comment from a supporter on Reddit stated: “Just gotta say, this show kicks a**!
“So, I’m one episode in, and I just gotta say that I can easily see Hotel Costiera becoming one of my favorite shows of all time. Jesse Williams – you are a freaking god, brother. This man could breathe life into a stone.
“Let’s face it, De Luca doesn’t have much meat on the bone as a character, but Jesse brings so much charisma that I physically can’t pull my eyes off the screen when he’s on.
“Can’t wait to see where this wild ride of a series takes us. Let’s buckle up, Costiera heads. Cheers!”

Decider similarly praised the programme as “visually stunning”, commending Williams for being “in his element” in the leading role.
Outside of this crime thriller, the performer is best known for playing Dr. Jackson Avery in the hugely popular medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, departing as a series regular during season 17 while making sporadic guest appearances in subsequent episodes.
His acting credits also feature roles in Only Murders in the Building, Little Fires Everywhere and the rom-com Your Place or Mine, starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher.
Hotel Costiera is available to stream on Prime Video.
